Max Verstappen finally quenched his thirst for a second win at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix on Sunday. The Red Bull driver had previously won the Japanese Grand Prix and had been struggling to clinch another victory this season. In a pleasant surprise, McLaren driver Lando Norris also managed to surpass his teammate Oscar Piastri to take the second spot on the podium, forcing the latter to settle for the third position.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix highlights

Verstappen was at times referred to by his fake name, Franz Hermann, even during one of the live updates by Formula 1. This marks his first win following the birth of his daughter Lily during the Miami Grand Prix earlier this month.Williams driver Alex Albon also put on a great show in the final moments. He first overtook Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and then went wheel-to-wheel with the other Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, on the track. Albon finally settled for the fifth spot after Ferrari instructed Leclerc to give the place back to Albon.

Ferrari gains lost prestige as Lewis Hamilton puts up best performance

However, amid the Leclerc and Albon battle, it was Hamilton who managed to leave both behind and cross the finish line in fourth position. The seven-time world champion missed out on the podium but did redeem some prestige after failing to finish in the top 10 during the Qualifying race on Saturday. This was his first race on Ferrari’s home ground, and it seems he managed to bring a smile to the supportive crowd. This is also his best performance in a Ferrari car after months of struggle on the track. His teammate Leclerc also made amends for Ferrari’s fans as he finally ended in sixth position, followed by Mercedes driver George Russell in seventh. Also Read: Emilia Romagna Grand Prix 2025 Qualifying results: Oscar Piastri wins pole, Verstappen secures second spotMoments before the race could reach its conclusion, Italian driver Kimi Antonelli announced on the radio that he was facing a problem and came to a stop.
