Singer Rahul Vaidya and his wife, actress Disha Parmar Vaidya, are all set for Navratri festivities. The two share that they have always loved playing garba, and their interest hasn’t diminished even today. Rahul recounts, “When I was kid, because of my father’s job we would have to move to different cities, so we have witnessed Navratri celebrations across the country.”

Rahul says, “At that time, it was all about enjoying dandiya with friends in the neighbourhood, but now, the celebrations are massive. As I grew up, I used to dream of singing at these events in front of huge crowds. With Maa’s blessings, that dream has come true and today, I perform not only in India, but in many other countries. And now as I perform abroad, I love the frenzy associated with Navratri in the US, UK, Canada and other countries. Unlike India, countries abroad continue celebrating the festival even post Navratri. I see how they miss celebrating the festival in India." He added, "Before the performance, I look forward to Maa's aarati, which gives me goosebumps and brings tears to my eyes. After the aarati I get this double energy to dance and perform. Navratri then and now is different but my connection with the festival continues to remain the same."

Disha, who is originally from Delhi, shares, “As kids, we enjoyed fasting during Navratri, but I saw a different side to the festival when I relocated to Mumbai. I enjoy the hustle-bustle and the colourful atmosphere. We love the frenzy during Navratri.”

The Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actress further adds, “Once, Rahul and I were invited by a friend for an event in Goregaon. We went after dinner and weren’t even dressed for the dandiya event. But looking at how people were dancing without any inhibitions, we just joined in and danced till the wee hours of the morning. It is a Gujarati dance form, but I see that in Mumbai, everyone enjoys dandiya to the fullest.”
