Nam Kwon Ah, the supporting actress well known for playing the quirky shopkeeper from ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’, has been making rounds online for her beloved character on screen. Recently, the actress shared her experience during casting that almost made her back out and think that she may be getting into something that might not be legit.
On her experience on ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ sets
Nam Kwon Ah recently starred in a popular variety show titled ‘One Mic’. The actress recently talked about her role on screen with ‘When Life Gives You Tangerines’ and how things have changed for her in the industry since then, as per Koreaboo.
The actress detailed her time in the industry and even talked about how hard and unpredictable it can be. The actress shared how her popularity has increased tenfold due to the show and that whenever she passes the street and someone recognises her, she starts to ‘feel like a celebrity’.
'Sketchy' casting process
The actress also detailed how she ended up getting cast for the show; however, the experience itself was one of the most bizarre ones she had. The actress shared that it was late in the night when she first got the information about the casting call, making her question whether the show was legit or not. Kwon thought that the show may be something “sketchy”.
She still ended up taking a chance, as she felt the risk was worth it. Later on, however, when she arrived at the location of the audition, things were even weirder for the actress. She shared that the audition place was informal and was bare of the usual lighting and camera settings.
"There were no cameras. Usually, there is an assistant director and people next to you who give you lines, but the director is alone. It was my first time experiencing something like this,” shared Kwon Ah.
Even though she was mainly used to formal settings while giving auditions, she still chose to proceed with the call. The actress talked about the experience and shared that doing the audition with the director was a “fun” experience for her. She shared, “This process was different from any other audition I’ve ever been to. So, it was unfamiliar and fun.”
