NEW DELHI: BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya on Tuesday shared video of alleged confrontation between two Trinamool Congress MPs engaged in a heated exchange at the Election Commission headquarters on April 4.
The incident reportedly took place on April 4, at the Election Commission headquarters, where TMC MPs Kalyan Banerjee and Kirti Azad were meant to submit a party memorandum. According to Malviya, tension arose when one MP directly proceeded to the EC office, bypassing a planned gathering at the Parliament office where members were supposed to sign the document first.

The situation allegedly became so heated that police intervention was necessary to calm the MPs. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was reportedly informed and subsequently asked both parliamentarians to resolve their differences.
The dispute, however, apparently continued on a WhatsApp group named 'AITC MP 2024'. In screenshots shared by Malviya, Kalyan Banerjee made cryptic references to a "versatile international lady," writing: "Today I Congratulate the gentleman who opened the beautiful activities of versatile international lady... Today of course 30 years famous player stood behind her to get me arrested."

Kirti Azad reportedly responded by criticising Kalyan Banerjee's behaviour as "juvenile" and urged him to "act like an adult" and cease "instigating anybody."

Malviya, while sharing these exchanges on X (formerly Twitter), pointed to the mysterious identity of the "versatile international lady" mentioned in the messages, leaving it open to speculation.

He later took at another jab at TMC starting an opinion poll on X on who leaked the chats saying that "It is obvious that the chat screenshots and videos of TMC MPs squabbling have been leaked from within." "Help Mamata Banerjee figure out who leaked them," he added giving four options.

The Trinamool Congress has not yet responded to these allegations or commented on the apparent discord between its MPs.
