Gurgaon’s pass rate falls, Rewari is best performer among districts
Gurgaon: With a pass percentage of 96.9, Rewari emerged as the top performer in the Haryana Board Class X examinations, the results of which were announced on Saturday afternoon.Girls outperformed boys once again. The pass percentage for girls was 94, around 3% higher than that of boys.At 92.5%, the state's overall performance saw a drop of 2.7% from last year's 95.2%. The city recorded a pass rate of 92.9%, reflecting a drop of 3% from last year's 95.9%. No student from Gurgaon featured on the list of the top 20 released by the board. Nuh, consistent with last year, had the lowest score at 73.9%, a drop from last year's 81.9%.Rohit from Oxford Public Senior Secondary School in Hisar district topped the examination by scoring 497 marks out of 500, followed by Mahi from New Saraswati Senior Secondary School in Ambala, who also scored 497. Akshit Sehrawat from Ashadeep Adarsh High School in Panipat scored 496.While Gurgaon's overall pass percentage dipped by 3%, there has been a notable improvement in its state-level ranking. Gurgaon climbed two places to secure the 14th position in the state this year, up from 16th last year.
Despite the drop, education officials have considered the results satisfactory, especially highlighting the strong performance of government schools.According to board data, 14,625 students from government schools in the city registered for the exam, out of which 13,585 passed. Additionally, 854 students are eligible for reappear exams, and 186 failed. In contrast, private schools performed significantly lower, with only 29 of the 84 registered students passing, resulting in a pass percentage of just 34.52%."The performance of government schools in Gurgaon has been commendable. The consistent efforts by teachers and district-level educational initiatives are showing positive results. We are optimistic about even better outcomes in the future," Captain Indu Boken, education officer of the district said.
